  ANNUAL MEETING

  8:45am Audience asked to take their seats by Guy Pierce.

  8:50 am Musical prelude of kingdom melodies. Introduced by Guy Pierce.

  8:58am Attendants at all doors. Packed house.

  9:00am Program begins with song 65.

  9:06am Opening prayer and introduction. Asked not to share information on social networks. Told not to take digital notes. Guy Peirce opening talk. 1830 locations streamed to. Nearly 1 and a half million reached.

  129th annual meeting. Will important bible questions be answered? Yes. Proverbs 4:18. There will be new light. The righteous ones (Jehovah's people) will get the light. Will bible truths be refined at this meeting? Absolutely.

  9:11am Mark Sanderson "a display to honor Jehovah"

  New bible display created at headquarters. displays pages from many bible manuscripts. Joked about rarity of NWT lately. They are in possession of a single page of Tyndall's bible which includes the name "Jehovah". They also have a page from a Reno Valero bible from 1602 with Jehovah's name.

  Upon reviewing bethel library, they have a bible from 1549. The first to be in every church.

  They used many bibles in this display.

  Many bethelites donated rare bibles to the display. And even purchased rare bibles for the display.

  They found a copy of the Nuremberg polyglot online. Talk of the translator using the Tetragrammaton in the greek scriptures.

  Bethelites negotiated for bible. Turns out he was a brother. Gave it as a permanent lone.

  They wanted a German language bible that also uses the divine name I the Greek scriptures. Someone told them it was impossible to find. They found one on the internet "for an unbeliably low price". A bethelites purchased it and donated it.

  They wanted a good reproduction of the Isaiah scroll from the Dead Sea scrolls. Tuns out they had one.

  The final bible to obtain was the Geneva bible of 1603. A brother donated it.

  The display officially opened on Thursday October 3rd 2013.

  @Ding you got me thinking about Bruce Almighty - auto reply yes to all prayers.

  It's an interesting thought - if I were God...

  however, none of us have the mental capacity to comprehend such a notion. It's hard enough being human.

  @knowsnothing - the points you raise are difficult to ponder as I default to the concept that it is mans greed and ruination of the earth that causes famine. I think the earth could provide sufficiently. We messed it up though.

  You make a good point however in regard to our limitations. Yes I could help a local family in need but it's the tip of the iceberg which is why I look to God for the ultimate answer on a global scale. On a very basic level, we all lend a hand as it is human nature. If I have food and you don't, and you're hungry, I will give you some. Simple. Not heroic, just human nature.

  How much more so could our creator do just that...?

  Interesting points being raised, some of which point to the thrust of question 3 which I think is worthy of consideration. When I was "in" I prayed for all sorts and quite often encouraged others by expressing how my prayers were answered.

  One example wold would be after delivering a talk. I would be approached by a member of the congregation who would praise me on my delivery. In return I would say (genuinely) that it was Jehovah that helped me through his Holy Spirit which I had asked for through prayer, privately, before stepping on the platform.

  I honestly believed this to be the case.

  But really??

  Did Jehovah really help me? Did he really send his Holy Spirit to help me deliver a good talk while so many other things on earth require his attention?

  This is just one example and I could quote plenty but you get my point...

  It's a common topic of conversation among congregation members where they believe Jehovah has a hand in the goings on but it just cannot be the case when he is needed in far more important situations across the globe.

  Hi Laika,

  Many thanks for your comments. You got me thinking again.

  In response to your point on question2, yes absolutley I've allowed an injustice to happen at some stage in my life although I have the excuse of imperfection on my side. To clarify though, theres a difference between making poor decisions that cause pain and suffering and situations where you allow an injustice to take place, but like i say - I'm no wise person nor am I perfect and although that sounds like a big get out, it's actually true.

  Yes I feel homesick and long for something better. I used to love being a "spiritual" person and adored the bible but I wasn't a thinking man back then. My eyes have been opened and I am more dissapointed than I have ever been. I have been defrauded by the "society" and left with a gap that cannot be filled. When I break things down to barebones I'm left with the questions raised in the initial post.

  It may sound haughty but I expect more from an Almighty being. How can he possibly watch these things happen for over 2000 years? It's almost as if death is like a mobile phone dying. It's ok, it dies but just put it on charge again and it will come back to life.

  Allow me to set the questions up.

  In summary, 2 young boys have been killed by a snake that escaped from a pet store in Canada. It made it's way up through the ventilation into the apartment they were staying in. The two little boys (aged 5 and 7) were strangled to death.

  Facts:

  • God saw the snake escape.
  • He saw it crawl up through the ventilation.
  • He saw it heading for the little boys.
  • He saw it take hold and kill them right before his very eyes.
  • He did not intervene and stop it from happening.
  • He knew what terror the boys would experience.
  • He knew what terror the family are now experiencing.

  Q1. So you think there is a loving God that sat and watched this happen, correct?

  Q2. If I told you that "I" sat and watched this happen but did nothing, what would you think of me?

  Q3. If God is going to sit and watch something like this without doing anything, why do you think he is going to listen to your prayers and provide you with an answer on matters which quite frankly are trivial in comparrison?

  Q4. Do you honestly think it is good enough to conclude that the prospect of a resurrection cancels out this tradegy and precludes God from any negligence?

  For me the story is significant as we are not talking about evil selfish humans that are out to get what they can get. This is an animal created by God and two children that are not old enough yet to know their own mind let alone take sides on the big issue.
